Sensei Shirin Ferig has developed a program to incorporate three main objectives of Judo: controlled self-defense, the origin of the martial art and the sport. By doing this, judokas from both the university and the public come to train and participate in her class, knowing that they will receive a high level of training and instruction. 

Through the university, what had started as an intramural sport became a highly recognized club within. With participants ranging from 5 to 69 years old, the club is become not only a team but a family of fighters. And over time, as the unity grew, it created its own philosophy and created a strong, dedicated club motto of :

“ONE HEART”.

In the past five years, fighters have represented the University of Winnipeg Judo Club in local, provincial and national tournaments, bringing home over 400 medals. As we reach for further perfection and create a new generation of fighting judoka, we remain confident that with heart and passion our team will achieve gold for our country in Olympic and world competitions.

All of our judoka have the opportunity to benefit of state-of-the-art instruction, access to weight training, nutritional programs, athletic therapy and Dartfish® computer analysis.

Nationals in both the U17 and U20 categories On July 4, 2010, Tarek Elmayergi domonated the Nationals in both the U17 and U20 categories, bringing home two silver medals. Congratulations! 06 Jul 2010
